Turkish Overload

September 2013 I made my annual pilgrimage to work for London based designer Bora Aksu, I've worked for Bora and the team for numerous seasons and its such an honour to work for such an established label which has such a premier position at LFW.
The collection was based on his childhood and his memories of holidays on the calming Aegean coast (Turkey). The collection was rich in detail with delicate knitting, hand crochet, silk painting, and contrasting fabrics, all which resembled Turkey and more about Aksu.
Rich in Details and colour...

My friend and I decided that we should try Turkey and see the richness of detail and art ourselves. We recently just got back and we have pictures to share!
As I mentioned previously I illustrate a lot, and holidays are no exception - below are illustrations and places which we found inspiring.

 Putting prints into practise!

After buying lots of traditional Turkish fabrics/textiles I started to use the prints as a starting to point to generate ideas for new, innovative prints and ideas for how these can be put into practise.
